WWE on local programming… again?

So TV5 just acquired the rights of the WWE.

Great.

Now I don’t exactly hate this move. It’s hard to have a strong primetime with the PBA as their flagship program. I guess instead of wasting effort on tagalizing American top raters, they could have Raw, Smackdown, and NXT eat up the slots the PBA isn’t on.

But how exactly are they going to use their newfound goldmine?

It’s no secret that femmes cringe at the sight of oiled men fake fighting.

Sure, Ginebra games are exceptions but I doubt if Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Roman Reigns can defeat three badass Sanggres and the insanely popular love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza.

And then what happens when a PBA conference reaches its final stages? Will this mean they would pre-empt the product or move it to a later time?

And are they going to air Raw and Smackdown slightly delayed?

What about the pay per views?

Wrestlemania is almost as long as the Oscars.

Will they air the episodes repeatedly just like what FOX did?

Every time a local network inserts the WWE in their mix, they mess it up. They cut Raw and Smackdown to an hour and they throw in bad lead-ins to piss its audience. The last time TV5 had the WWE, they were still buying airtime on IBC (as AKTV) with Richard Del Rosario and Alex Crisano paving for each episode.

And yeah, whatever happened to the UFC?

I have low expectations… especially with most fans tuning to the action via online streaming.

It would be awesome to see a Chris Jericho promo in Tagalog though.

I wonder how he’ll do his List?
