2017 PBA Governors’ Cup: First Impressions

The first four games of the 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup has taken place with Phoenix, NLEX, Meralco, and Rain or Shine getting first blood as Kia, Blackwater, GlobalPort, and Alaska suffering setbacks.

So I’m going to make a first impressions blog!

Here are the top ten players of the first two playdates of the conference.

RANK POWER RANKINGS PTS REB AST TO STL BLK
1 B. AMER / MER 20 6 8 0 1 0
2 S. PRINGLE / GLO 21 9 7 4 2 0
3 T. ROMEO / GLO 28 3 5 3 1 0
4 C. ABUEVA / ALA 12 14 2 1 1 3
5 K. ALAS / NLE 20 8 4 1 0 0
6 J. INTAL / PHO 19 7 3 2 0 1
7 M. AHANMISI / ROS 17 4 4 1 1 1
8 C. NEWSOME / MER 13 7 7 2 0 0
9 S. ANTHONY / GLO 12 16 0 1 2 0
10 R. JAZUL / PHO 18 4 3 2 1 0

So Baser Amer went insane against the hapless Elite with a solid all-around game. Also, we have three GlobalPort players in the top ten because Jabril Trawick is probably headed to Pink Slip City after scoring just three points in 16 minutes. Kevin Alas had a nice Governors’ Cup start and the same can be said with Rain or Shine’s Maverick Ahanmisi.

Anyway, expect the Power Rankings next week.
